Palomar Health’s Pathmaker Internship presents pre-health students with unparalleled learning opportunities in a clinical setting. Pathmaker interns provide direct, patient-centric care and clinical support services for staff across our healthcare district. Working under the direction of the appropriate staff, interns assist in the provision of a safe, comfortable and confidential environment. Every three months, our interns have the opportunity to work in one of our 35+ currently available hospital departments. This program is ideal for students and adults interested in an intensive pre-health internship that will provide the experience necessary to make an informed decision about a career in healthcare.

Applicants must meet the requirements listed in the Program Requirements Packet (available on the Apply page) to be eligible to apply to the Level II program.
The time frame you select designates the time you should arrive for interviews. Although this appointment does not guarantee you an interview, you will be able to fill into any interview seat that has a last-minute cancellation or no-show. Each round of interviews will begin every half-hour from the start of the appointment time (e.g. 8:45am, 9:15am, 9:45 am, 10:15 am) and each interview will last 45 minutes.

The Alternate List operates on a first-come first-served basis, so openings will be given to applicants in the order they have arrived.

Since interview slots are not guaranteed, you can expect to wait as long as 1.5 hours for an interview slot to potentially open. However, you are welcome to leave at any time prior if you do not obtain a seat.

You will not be penalized for not attending your Alternate List appointment, but arriving on time gives you the best chance of obtaining an interview seat. Please email [email protected] with any questions or cancellation requests.

Please do not schedule for multiple future sessions on the Alternate List. Any duplications will be removed and only the most recent appointment will be held.
